Travel Information for YOU

Typically, 4-6 weeks are allowed off of work. However, the length of your recovery and time off will be decided between you and your provider.

Please plan to arrive at least 2 days prior to surgery. Most patients are able to travel at least 6 days after surgery. After a mastectomy, we prefer patients to stay at least 8 days since this is when your drains will likely be pulled out. If you do not have drains or are unable to stay until your first post-op appointment, you should not fly for 4-5 days after surgery. Please plan to stay at least this long. If you leave earlier than 8 days and you have drains, a medical professional in your area may remove them.

We can provide recommendations for car services, but also suggest using Uber or Lyft to get to the hospital and to your appointments.

Yes. You will receive an airplane letter after your first post-op that ensures that when going through TSA you do not have to raise your hands above your head.
